A clinical and histopathological study was made on a series of 63 ovarian cystic teratomas, operated upon and confirmed by histopathological examination during 5 years from Jan. 1989 till Dec. 1993.
@ES The results were as follows:
@EN1. The frequency of ovarian cystic teratoma was 27.8% of all ovarian tumors,operated.
2. The incidence of ovarian cystic teratoma was greatest in third decade(44.5%).
3. The bilaterality was 17.5%, right site 46.0% left sited 36.5%.
4. The average diameter was 7 cm, about 3/4(75.7%)was 5~9cm.
5. The most common cymptoms were abdominal pain or discomfort (50.8%) and palpable mass (30.2%), and no symptom in 20.6%.
6. Pregnancy was associated in 12.7%, and the rest were PID and uterine myoma associated.
7. Complications were torsion(12.7%), rupture(3.1%0, infection(3.1%).
8. The structures observed microscopically were skin (100%0, and skin appendages (97.39%), largely institued.
